The University of Ibadan Association of Dental Students (UADS) held her first CODEH outreach for the 2020/2021 executive tenure at Gbagi Market on Saturday, 4th of September, 2021.
The Committee of over
30 members and other dental students led by the CODEH chairman, Samuel Goroti arrived
and set up at the market at about 11:00am. Amongst other things, various stations
were set up for registration, oral health consultation, BMI check, blood pressure
check, blood glucose check, as well as for the Scaling and Polishing procedure.
While the stations were
being set up, some of the committee members went about the nook and cranny of
the market inviting them to the venue for the free services. Upon their arrival,
the patients were sanitized, given facemasks and leaflets on oral health at the
registration point before sitting down. At the close of the outreach, a hundred
and twenty-two patients (122) were registered.
The outreach had an oral
health talk in the Yoruba language, which was given by Dr Muiz. The patients
thereafter proceeded for their BMI check, blood glucose check, blood pressure
check before oral check-ups and consultations.
Some of the patients were referred to UCH for treatment plans while about
six (6) patients had their Scaling and Polishing done at the venue after their
consultation session.
The outreach – Dr Taiwo Afolabi Rural Dental Outreach was sponsored by UADS’ long-standing partner, SIFAX Group.
